Signal Thing

Engineering R&D — biosignal hardware & software

From an idea to a device you can ship.

Signal Thing is an engineering R&D team for companies building devices that read biosignals. We take a measurement idea to a working prototype in weeks, turn the prototype into a product, and hand it over to series manufacturing — hardware, industrial design, enclosures, electronics, firmware, SDKs and applications.

What we do for clients

What we do for clients

01
Hardware development
Dry-electrode EEG, EMG, stimulation and optical devices — built on proven platforms and reference designs where they exist, so a working device is in your hands in weeks rather than quarters.
02
Electronics & firmware
Sensor front ends, PCB design, wireless, power, embedded firmware. The layer where measurement quality is either won or lost.
03
Industrial design & enclosures
Form, ergonomics, materials and enclosures designed around the electronics they hold — and around the person who has to wear or hold the thing.
04
Signal processing
Real-time capture, filtering and analysis, with every stage of the pipeline instrumented and visible rather than hidden behind a black box.
05
SDKs & applications
Desktop and mobile applications, and the SDKs that let your own team — or your customers — build on the device instead of waiting for us.
06
Transfer to production
Documentation, tooling and manufacturing hand-off — from a small batch you can put in the field to a series line that repeats it.

How a project runs

How a project runs

Most measurement ideas fail on physics, not on product. We find that out early and cheaply — then build the thing properly.

01

Frame the measurement

What has to be read, at what fidelity, and what result would count as proof that it works.

02

Prototype fast

A working device assembled on existing platforms, so the hypothesis is tested in the field instead of on paper.

03

Turn it into a product

Industrial design, enclosure, electronics and software brought to something you can put in a customer's hands.

04

Move to series

Hand-off to manufacturing with the documentation and tooling that make the build repeatable.

EEG
California

Portable 8-channel EEG headband

A wearable eight-channel EEG with a companion mobile platform, built for fast setup where a conventional EEG rig is impractical. Developed for a client through several hardware iterations; a batch of four units is currently with them for evaluation.

EMG + stimulation
US

Surface EMG and neuromuscular stimulation system

Four-sensor wireless surface EMG for the jaw muscles with Bluetooth receiver and analysis software, paired with a three-channel neuromuscular stimulator. It turns muscle activity into objective, repeatable data and holds a stable reference position. Designed and manufactured in-house; units are in the field, and the feedback is shaping the next iteration.

Optical

Optical anatomical measurement platform

Non-contact optical capture of soft-tissue geometry, replacing a subjective manual assessment with an objective, repeatable measurement. We built the live sensor capture, the execution of the client's proprietary measurement algorithm, and real-time visualisation of every processing stage — letting the client validate the approach before committing to hardware investment. Client under NDA; referenceable on request.

Tell us what you need to measure.

Describe the measurement and where you are with it — an idea, a rough prototype, or a device that needs to reach production. We will tell you honestly whether we are the right team for it.
